Birch Bird Ornament - November Heartwood Workshop
Join artisans Jason and Jody, to make a birch ornament! In this class you will learn to weave a simple bird ornament, using responsibly harvested local white birch bark that Jason salvaged as it was destined to become firewood. First, we’ll hone your skill using paper, so you’ll take home two birds. There is limited space available for these special workshops. Bring your favorite bevvy or snacks, and leave with a new artful creation for your home or as a gift for the holidays.
NOVEMBER PROJECT: This month you'll have the chance to create a beautiful hanging birch bird ornament and learn classic Scandinavian weaving techniques. Birch bark is a traditional material used throughout many cultures of the northern regions. The bark of the paper birch is unique because it is thin, flexible, and waterproof, perfect for making baskets and containers of all shapes and sizes.
